Ian Anderson & The Designers Republic
A multimedia tribute to a legendary graphic designer and his studio
Ian Anderson’s work resonates deeply with me because, for all his obnoxious confidence and downright cockiness, he has no formal design education—yet it’s precisely that conviction, that unapologetic certainty, that propelled The Designers Republic (tDR) to the revolutionary status and cult-following it has today.
Most of the time, I have no idea what I’m doing—even with a design education. So if some guy from Sheffield can declare, “We design the world, they copy us,” tell the establishment to "pho-ku," and break every rule to carve out a such legacy, then maybe I can find my place in design too—even if I still have no idea what the hell I’m doing :)
